No more sediment in your glass
The leading Basque chef, Martin Berasategui, has created a bottle with a system in which impurities in the wine are decanted and the sediment doesn’t end up in your glass when the wine is served. Pico Cuadro uses this special bottle for natural decanting.
The Pico Cuadro venture was begun in 2003, when Felipe Castrillo decided to launch a project he had been dreaming about and carefully nurturing with his sister Clara and their parents.
Over the previous 10 years he had first studied œnology in Madrid before training as a winemaker in Saint Emilion and Ribera del Duero. During these years he combined his travels as a student winemaker with the development of a plan to one day produce a unique wine of outstanding character using the Tinta del Pais grape variety. Today he has fulfilled that aim, combining the most painstaking hand-craft techniques with the latest winemaking technology.
