The Pico Cuadro venture was begun in 2003, when Felipe Castrillo decided to launch a project he had been dreaming about and carefully nurturing with his sister Clara and their parents.

Over the previous 10 years he had first studied œnology in Madrid before training as a winemaker in Saint Emilion and  Ribera del Duero. During these years he combined his travels as a student winemaker with the development of a plan to one day produce a unique wine of outstanding character using the Tinta del Pais grape variety.  Today he has fulfilled that aim, combining the most painstaking hand-craft techniques with the latest winemaking technology.
